This is a
VINTAGE, RETIRED "Baby Chickadee", model #287, in the coloration of yellow & black.
This mould was first issued in 1956 & designed by Robyn Sikking.
Varying colorations were presented through the regular Hagen-Renaker miniature line at different times.
This particular item was produced in 1981!
This is a "collector's dream...full, complete documentation (factory card attached) for dating and manufacturer.
When we order directly from Hagen Renaker, we request "NOT to card".
However, now that we are getting some vintage, and retired, items from other dealers we sometimes buy stock that has been "carded".
This is the case with this "Baby Chickadee". It is particularly FANTASTIC FOR COLLECTORS!
See the date on the card. At one time Hagen Renaker actually DATED these "display cards".
The card has yellowed with age, and at one time apparently had a price 'sticker' that has left some residue next to the bird. Other wise, the card is in
very nice condition. It is the original full 2" square size.
This piece is a high gloss fired glaze finish on a Ceramic clay base that was fired to approximately 2300 degrees Fahrenheit.
All of the Hagen Renaker miniatures listed on our website are "Fired " finishes; thus making them pieces of "China". Most of the pieces undergo at least two (2), with some having three (3) firings in a Ceramic kiln. Temperatures will vary from 2500 degrees to 1650 degrees, dependent as to a greenware (raw clay) firing, a glaze firing, or an overglaze (lustre, gold, or platinum) firing.
Hagen-Renaker, fine Potteries since 1946, still family owned AND; HANDCRAFTED IN AMERICA!
This "chickadee" baby is yellow, softly air brushed with black to give emphasis and shading to the piece, on the head, wings and tail.
The eyes are simple black dots. The beak has been carefully defined in 'yellow ochre', with an ever so delicately placed black detail on the top of the beak (incredible detail)!!!
COLLECTOR'S...picture IS the actual piece you will receive AND we only have one of this RARE find! This is a PERFECT companion piece to go with "Papa Tweety" (HR00482YL), "Ma Tweety" (HR04811YL), and "Baby Tweetie" (HR00495YL)!!! I have looked the piece over carefully, and see no chips or repairs; it is in mint condition.
