"Mama Turtle" measures 1 3/4" long (from tip of tail to tip of nose), and 1 1/4" wide. It is 5/8" tall.
The detailing on the back of the turtle is scored in the mould, so the green semi-translucent glaze fills the divisions and defines the sections of the shell.
NOTE...this is an older piece (probably produced around, 2000). The color is slightly lighter, with less yellow tone, than is currently produced. The detailing on the shell is very sharp, and defined.
The eyes are simple black dots on either side of the tiny turtle's head.
Mama has a lightly carved line to give a defined mouth.
The MOVEMENT of "Mama Turtle" is accentuated by the varied positions of the four feet, and pointed tail.
This piece is a high gloss fired glaze finish on a Ceramic clay base that was fired to approximately 2300 degrees Fahrenheit.
All of the Hagen Renaker miniatures listed on our website are "Fired " finishes; thus making them pieces of "China". Most of the pieces undergo at least two (2), with some having three (3) firings in a Ceramic kiln. Temperatures will vary from 2500 degrees to 1650 degrees, dependentas to a greenware (raw clay) firing, a glaze firing, or an overglaze (lustre, gold, or platinum) firing.
