4" "Pond Buddies" Duck
This is "Pond Buddies" Opal, Glittered, 'Duck'! from the 2008 SPRING collection.
It measures approximately 3 3/4" tall, 3 1/2" long, from the tip of beak to tip of tail, and approximately 2" wide, side to side.
This duck figurine is a solid cast glass mould in "Opal" Art Glass;
it is a Satin finish, "Milk" Glass...(white glass).
This glistening "critter" will add a sparkle to your display.
The "glistening" finish was first used during the Christmas 2007 season.
It was a most popular look, selling out long before the season
arrived!!!!
Fenton created a complete grouping for the Springtime 2008 season,
including bunnies, bunny boxes, ducks, frogs, and turtles.
Detailing (under the glitter), adds a personality to the sparkly glass figurine.
The eyes and eyelashes are defined with black, complete with a white highlight on the pupil, as well is detailing of a 'duck' orange-colored bill and feet, while
airbrushing on the figurine adds shadows & character to this figurine!
Details of feathering on the wings adds needed definition to the simple design.
The signature of the talented Fenton factory artist, who completed the
design, is permanently documented on the bottom of each piece, by way of
their painted "fired-on" signature.

The Fenton Art Glass Company
was founded in 1905 by Frank L. Fenton and his brother John W. Fenton
in an
old glass factory building in Martins Ferry, Ohio.
They began by painting decorations on glass blanks made by other
glass manufacturers. Soon, being unable to get the glass they needed,
they decided to produce their own glass.
The first glass from the new Fenton factory in Williamstown, West
Virginia, was made on January 2, 1907.
During its 106-year history, Fenton introduced the first iridescent
ware (now known as "Carnival glass") as well as classic patterns such as
Hobnail, Burmese and a wide variety of handmade colored art glass as
limited editions.
Sadly, on July 6, 2011, the Fenton Art Glass Company announced that it
would cease production of its collectible and giftware glass
products.
The company had faced financial challenges since its restructuring in
2007, and recent developments combined to force the shutdown of its
traditional glassmaking business.
