His drill book,
Regulations for the Order and Discipline of the Troops of the United States, remains the basis of today's military training."
Steuben retired to New York, where he died in 1794. Today, German Americans celebrate Steuben's life and legacy with the Annual Steuben Parade held in New York City on third Saturday in September.
