RETIRED'Jumping Horse with Rider' was in the "Specialties collection" from Hagen-Renaker. It was first produced in 2000.
An exquisite figurine, the detailing on this piece is sure to win your approval.
Starting with the creative use of a small acrylic rod to suspend the jumping horse above the rock wall; down to the fabric cord used for the ruins which is threaded through the horses' jaw, and up through the hands of the rider.
The rider is wearing white britches, and a bright red tank top, topped off with a matching red helmet, with black brim.
Black high top riding boots are tucked in the 'silver stirrups (fired on platinum).
In a perfect "jumping" position the rider poises above a brown saddle, sitting atop a bright blue blanket.
The rider (probably female) has brown hair tied, with a dark blue-grey colored ribbon at the back of the helmet.
Simple black dots define the eyes, with a pale pink color lining the lips.
The face and arms are a very pale flesh tone.
The horse is a medium brown, with a very dark umber (brown) used for shading to add the muscular definition and accent all four legs.
All four 'stockings' are white, with black hooves.
The mane and tail are black, as well as, the halter.
The eyes are black, with delicate "expression" lines directly above the pupils.
The "rock wall" is natural looking, with the matte finish contrasting with the glossy glazed finish of the horse and rider.
This piece is a combination high gloss AND matte fired glaze finishes on a Ceramic clay base that was fired to approximately 2300 degrees Fahrenheit.
All of the Hagen Renaker miniatures listed on our website are "Fired " finishes; thus making them pieces of "China". Most of the pieces undergo at least two (2), with some having three (3) firings in a Ceramic kiln. Temperatures will vary from 2500 degrees to 1650 degrees, dependent as to a greenware (raw clay) firing, a glaze firing, or an overglaze (lustre, gold, or platinum) firing.
